For this Halloween costume you will need several supplies. You will need a dress that comes to about your mid calf. You will also need fabric that matches the dress, stuffing, scissors, chalk, needle, measuring tape, and thread. You can also add sequins or buttons as suckers for the tentacles if you like.
Start measuring the length of the hem of the dress. Then put the dress on and measure the hem of the dress to the floor. Divide the length of the hem of the dress by 6. Now fold the fabric in half and mark the edge of the fabric so it matches the final number after you divided the length. For example, if the hem is 30 inches the measured and marked area would be 5 inches in length along the edge of the fabric.
Then measure from the edge of the fabric and use the chalk to mark the same length from the edge of the hem to the floor. Now draw a tentacle from the edge of the fabric to the marked line. You can make a straight pointy tentacle, or you can make a curved spiral. Feel free to be creative with the shape of your tentacle.
Now cut both of the layers of fabric according to the pattern drawn on the top piece of fabric. Thread the needle and place the fabric with the nice sides place one on top of the other. The back of the fabric is the side you will see when sewing the tentacle together. Now sew along the long sides and tip of the tentacle. Knot the thread and snip excess. Repeat this process until 6 tentacles are made.
Pull the tentacle right side out and stuff with cotton or whatever form of stuffing available. Then sew the edge shut and sew each tentacle to the edge of the dress. When wearing this costume you should make sure that your stockings or socks match the tentacles to complete the look.
