Things You'll Need:
Set of saw horses
One full size framing square
Electric drill with 1/16th and 3/16th drill bits
Phillips Screwdriver or Phillips bit for drill
Electric Circular Saw
Four 4 inch C-clamps
Bottle of exterior wood glue
100 - 1 1/4 inch by no.10 non tapered screws
set of 3 1/2 inch strap hinges
11 pcs. 3/4 inch by 3 1/2 inch boards 39 inches long
Now that we have the list of things you'll need out of the way let's jump right into step number one. Place 10 of the 39 inch boards on the saw horses, check ends for square. Mark 2 of them 35 inches long, cut set aside.
Mark 8 of the boards 3 1/2 inches from end, use square to mark line across boards. Measure from bottom of all 8 35 inches and make square mark. Then measure 3 1/2 inches down from the 35 inches make square mark.
With all 8 boards on saw horse line up all marks. Place 1 35 inch board you cut in step 1 on top and even the end with the edge and along the line of all eight boards. Tilt the 35 inch board to place a line of glue under it and place clamp on.
Step four calls for you to repeat step 3 for the other side of gate. Place the framing square on the first board, check for square. Repeat for other side. Drill four holes approx. 3/4's of an inch from the edge and attach. Repeat this for all four clamps.
Starting on the left side place a spacer at the top and bottom in-between the first and second board. Raise first board to enable you to squeeze glue under the other six boards. Repeat for top. After making sure the second board is where it should be, Screw it down. Move spacers to the next boards, and screw down.
Finally step six says with everything else done lay the 11th board diagonally from the top to the bottom, marking where the boards cross. Cut to fit, glue and screw.
Now enjoy your wooden gate, it's a nice one!
