So you've done it. You've gone and got yourself a job thinking it would be the epitome of your goals. And not only do you have a job, but you have a blooming career. What do you do? You get excited. You go get a new wardrobe and you take your successful self to work. Unfortunately, much to your surprise, you find out your job is not as fulfilling as you thought it would be. And you end up bored out of your mind and exhausted at the end of each 40 hour work day. And even if your career or job is fulfilling, from time to time or every single day, you may still find yourself bored at work. Well, here's how to work forty hours per week without being bored.

Clear you mind and keep it that way

I can talk about this because I've had plenty of jobs where I've been bored out of my mind to the point of sleeping in my car on every single "waking" lunch break. I've been bored at my desk and bored standing up talking to customers and bored doing all kinds of other work tasks. But I got set free when I learned to clear my mind.

Here's what clearing your mind means. Clearing your mind means taking the time each morning to focus on the thought you will carry with you throughout the day to keep you happy. You can focus on a Bible scripture, something that brought you joy the previous day, a hobby you have, or just any positive thought. And let me mention it's important to make that thought as positive as you can. Ask yourself, "Is this thought something that makes me tingly and bubbly inside?"

Don't make the thought about "your own dependencies" meaning food, drugs or sex. These things are often ways of escaping from life.

Once you get your positive thought, take that thought with you in your car and to your desk at work. Naturally, your mind will try to wander to other thoughts about your workplace. You may think things like "I should really keep my résumé e active." Or "I need to just really make a run to dunkin doughnuts so I can get something gooey, sugary and chocolately," But don't give into those thoughts. Every time you feel yourself drifting off of your positive thought, bring yourself right back to it. Make this day, the last day you let your mind just wander wherever it wants to go. You can be in control of your own mind.

If you do this, you will stop fighting yourself about where you are in life. You will stop obsessing over you goals, your shortcomings, bills your need to pay, and things you need to do all while you should be diligently working. This fight is what wears people out and makes them want to go to sleep in their car.

But if you focus on a single positive thought, you'll spend the whole work day feeling bubbly and tingly inside and who could possibly get bored while feeling that way?
