How to Work Faster Not Harder Online

How to Work More Efficiently and Effectively

L J Pearce
Working online is a dream come true for most people, but remember that working online may have its pros, but it too has its cons, for example lack of human contact, more self motivation required and so on. If you are currently working from home and working online and would like to work smarter not harder then here are a few ideas, and suggestions I have:

1. Focus, find your focus and keep it, having focus will help you keep and maintain your motivation.

2. Organize yourself, working online required organization, know what you are doing, when why and where.

3. Take breaks. Yep I said it, learn to take a break, schedule regular breaks so that you can work even better.

4. Prioritize. Prioritize your tasks your workload and anything else you require to work online. Prioritizing will help you both in the short term and long term become more efficient and effective.

5. Concentrate and maintain your concentration. Working online and from home requires a great deal of concentration. You must learn to turn off from all outside distractions to get done what needs doing.

6. Keep a diary. Stay on top and ahead of your workload by keeping a diary. Know what needs doing and when.

7. Don't take more on than you can handle. As tempting as it may be taking on all of that extra work and all of those extra hours could well have disastrous effects.

8. Set deadlines and stick to them. Setting deadlines will help you focus and stay motivated. Deadlines will help keep you on track.

9. Set goals, targets and aims, both short term and long term ones. Setting aims and targets will help you break up work and will give you something visible to aim at/towards.

10. Don't be too hard on yourself. Nobody has the time to do everything, so unless you are able to delegate tasks and works out to others then don't be disheartened or hard on yourself if you cant get everything done or finished.

11. Set some working times and working hours. Working online means you are flexible to work as and when you like. However this can be a negative thing as if you are not careful you could end up working all the hours god sends. So start as you mean to go on. Decide what days, times and hours you will work and then stick to them.

I hope you have found this article both helpful and useful, good luck with working online, it can be really rewarding.

I agree with you. Working from home is great in a lot of ways, but it also has its downsides.
