How to Work at Home with Out Losing Your Mind

Pennya
People who want to work at home may come into it thinking that it will be easier to make more money or get more things done around the house. Of course, neither of these statements are true since you will still need to set time aside to focus on your work. If you have a child and chances are you do since that is one of the main reasons a person decides to work at home, you will need to work around their schedule. You can work while someone else watches them, while they are at school or while they are asleep. This means that you will need to double up on your caffeine, take naps and retain good eating patterns. If you are married you can work when they come home as long as they know that you are going to be working. Your spouse will have to help you get the time in if you cannot afford childcare. If you were going to have a second job outside of the home they would have to watch the kids so really this isn't to different.

The advantage of working at home is that you can save money on transportation, food, car insurance, gas, and even the need to have a second car. You will need to stay motivated in order to make your second income count. This is one of the biggest challenges in any home workers day, there are so many distractions around the house and online! If you want to make it through your day with out losing your mind you will have to lay down some ground rules. After you find what works best for you make sure you reward yourself when you reach your quota for the day. Rewards do not have to cost a lot of money it could be something as simple as having a really nice bubble bath or a bowl of ice cream after dinner. If you work and do not reward yourself you might become unmotivated so try to reach your goals every week for a bigger reward at the end of the pay period.

The most important part of working at home is that you are alone with your work. You will need to make sure that you get out of the house to socialize since your coworkers are not in the same room as you. If you find yourself starting to lose it you can always call up a good friend or start writing in a blog. When frustration starts to take over, I just log onto my Live journal and post so my friends can see what I have been up too. It feels good to connect with other people who do the same kind of work that you do. You can try finding these types of communities online or see if there is a local Meet up group.
