In order to have a successful business, you must have a happy staff in addition to having a happy customer base. You are likelier to have happier employees if they feel empowered. You will learn how to build an empowered workforce.

No matter what type of work your employees do, you should give them good starting pay and benefits. This will help them feel worthy. Plus, it will enable them to eat and live better. The healthier and better fed they are, the more productive they will be at work.

You must show confidence in them. You can do this by telling them this in addition to not constantly monitoring them. They will have an easier time relaxing if they know you trust and confide in them.

It is imperative to reward them for good performance. If they meet company expectations and help boost your bottom line, you must give them a significant raise and perhaps offer them a promotion. It is natural to feel good about yourself when you are financially rewarded for the fruits of your labor. You should also praise them and give them inexpensive freebies.

If you do not have room in the organization to promote most of them, the least you can do is create a special job title for them or let them personally create one for themselves. If an employee is good at keeping things organized, you could appoint him or her to be the office organizer. Using this process could help bolster their self-esteem.

You should offer them flexible scheduling and telecommuting options. This will allow them to do things they might need to do such as going to school, taking care of family needs, etc. This is also a good way to help make them feel in control of their career destiny.

It is helpful to be family-friendly. One way you can do it is to let your workers have extra time off when they have a family emergency or there are special circumstances involving someone in their family. Another is to let them bring their babies or young kids onto the company premises.

You must put them in a position to succeed. One thing you should do is train them well. Another is to assign them the right tasks by focusing on their strengths.

You must make them feel like they are more than just a number. One way you can do it is to enable them to offer ideas on improving the firm. Another is to respect them.
