I like to write what I know. This way, very little research is required (if any) and I can just sit and type it out. I taught dance for eight years and one of the things I love is coming up with themes for the yearly dance recitals. So, I thought I'd write an article giving some dance recital theme ideas and started thinking some up.
Wait a minute. There's ten articles right there! I can write a whole article on the circus theme. So, I started writing down all the themes I thought of. I ended up writing one on a circus theme and one on a shopping mall theme. I have a list on my desk for eight other dance recital themes I want to write about, but haven't gotten around to yet.
As I was writing my circus theme idea, I thought about what else could be circus themed. Birthday parties! So, I did a Google search on circus birthday parties. It was all for kids. So, I wrote an article about circus theme parties for adults. I then wrote an entire article about theme party ideas for adults, then an article just about a pirate theme party for adults.
I started thinking about how easy this was to do and thought I should write an article about it - yeah, this one - another idea out of that original topic which now isn't even related to it at all.
Geez! My original idea turned into over 20 article topics to write about keeping me busy for a long time. It's too bad I don't have the time to write full time.
A great benefit out of turning one article into several articles is that you can now link them all together. So, if you want to write an article about how to make baked ziti, how about writing another one on the history of baked ziti and linking them to each other?
So, next time you have one idea, stop and get a pen and paper before you sit down at your computer. Write down ten ideas based off your original.
If your idea is - oh, I don't know - how to make 10 articles out of one idea, write that idea down and write down numbers 1 through 10 and start thinking:
1. How to make 10 articles out of one idea.
2. Overcoming writer's block.
3. Essential tools for the serious writer.
4. Maximize your earnings writing for the Internet.
5. Ten mistakes even good writers make.
6. Getting your writing noticed on the Internet.
7. Is tweeting on Twitter your articles worth it?
8. How to use Facebook to promote your articles.
9. How to use a blog to promote your articles.
10. How to do keyword research for your articles.
If you get stuck for a single idea, just look around the room. I looked down at my feet just now and I've got on my favorite fuzzy slipper socks. I can write a review about them. I can also write, "Is wearing socks with flip-flips tacky?" I can also write an article about how to keep your white socks white, how to organize your socks so you can find them, how to make an adorable sock puppet, puppet show ideas, where to find puppet show scripts, how to help your kids remember lines in their school play, drama school summer camps for kids in my area, drama schools for adults in my area and managing school and work. There's my 10.
Good luck!

Post a CommentI really profited from this!! Thank you!
Thanks for your great ideas in this article. I am new to AC and online writing altogether, and have just submitted a few articles to AC. I'm still waiting for approval but I was having a difficult time thinking of what to write about. I will definitely try the ideas mentioned here.
can you explain exactly how to link the articles? How do you get a link to the first article to put in the 2nd article if you haven't published it yet?
Wonderful idea and very efficient... what a great way to amortize your research.
