How to Write an Associated Content Article a Day

Jane Meyer
There are content producers on Associated Content who have thousands of articles and millions of page views to their credit. These writers must write articles for a living and make a nice page view bonus check each month. I would be happy just to find the time to write one article a day.

My tip to you is to carry around a very small 4½ by 3¼ inch composition notebook that you can buy in Staples. I found some notebooks that have pink and blue patterned designs on the cover. The unique designs make the act of writing in the notebook more interesting to me.

Then I use the notebook to start writing my articles at times when I am not near my computer. Mostly, I write articles while I am waiting for my dinner to cook or while watching television at night with my kids (they watch the shows on Disney channel, which I don't find interesting). I've also written articles while waiting for meetings to start, while at my son's karate school and while sitting in bed at night.

I finally realized that creative energy comes to me at all times, not just when I am conveniently sitting at my computer. To liven up the process of manually writing, (how old fashioned!), I purchased pens with different colored ink. I prefer pink and purple ink.

Many writers jot down outlines for articles in their notebooks. I find it better for my personal time management to write the entire article in the notebook and then type it out the next time I am at my computer. The typing process will only take a few minutes if I already have the article written.

This one change in my daily routine has made me a much more prolific content producer.

It made me smile to read that someone else finds the pretty notebooks, and colored pens more fun!

Good idea! I keep paper to write dow ideas, as well!

Great article. I do almost the same thing. I've got a notebook in every room practically. One in the kitchen, one in the bedroom next to my bed (for those 3 a.m. ideas!) I have 4 in my office and they're just scattered everywhere! And I love the colored pen ideas.
