How to Write a Great Personal Ad

Looking for that special someone can be hard. With the limited number of people you know, your chances of meeting your soul mate can be slim. You can increase your chances of finding love by writing a personal ad. Personal ads offer a great way of meeting people locally and online. You might even be surprised; you might find your true love with an ad. However, you don't want your ad to sound silly or ridiculous. Follow these steps to learn how to write your personal ad the right way!

Take time reading sample personal ads. Read through your local newspaper and online dating agencies and sites to pick up ideas on how to create your own personal ad. Pay attention to the ones that sound terrible to you. Use them as examples of what NOT to do with your ad. Also, pay attention to the ones that sound great. Use them as positive examples of how to write your ad.

Know what you want. Your ad must have something that tells the reader what you really want. To get your message across, you need to know what you really want, what you are looking for in terms of romance, friendship and a relationship. Think of writing your ad as something that will attract people who are looking for the same thing.

Never use cheesy and tacky lines. The last thing you want your personal ad to do is make its readers roll their eyes. Stay away from using lines such as "come and take a bite" or "the man of your dreams". In fact, avoid using any pick up line at all. Not only will it sound tacky, no one will ever take your ad seriously. Just be honest and that's it! Increase your chances at love by being yourself.

Before posting your ad, create your draft first. Use the ads you read earlier as a guide. Make sure that your ad expresses exactly what you are looking for. Think of an ad that will have the same affect as actually meeting a person, shaking his or her hand and introducing yourself. Take your time creating your ad so it will give its readers the right impression.

Before making your personal ad public, check it for errors. You don't want anyone to laugh at your personal ad, do you? And remember, personal ads aren't supposed to be too long or too complicated. Writing one shouldn't be too difficult. If you're having trouble, step away from your written draft and leave it for a few hours. Come back and read it again to check it for errors. Fresh eyes are likely to catch any errors.

Follow these simple steps and you'll be sure to write a great personal ad. Good luck!
