How to Write Informative Articles in a Bad Mood

Sarah Holmes
I am sitting down to the computer and my mind runs blank. There is nothing to write about. If I had something to write about I would. Yes, I have all kinds of ideas collected that I could write about. It isn't that I don't actually have anything to write about. I don't want to write about any of those topics. I write best when I am passionate about a subject. I believe that passion is very important when writing a good article. I like to write about what I am passionate about at the moment.

Why am I not passionate about anything? Right now, I am passionate about many things. However, I am in a sour mood because I recently listened to my daughter cry herself to sleep for about 5 minutes. The elusive bink (binky, nuk, or pacifier for those of you who call it that) was no where to be found. I am in a sour mood and therefore I have nothing to write about. Sure I could write about what is on my mind the ins, outs, hows and whys of the current situation, however I don't think many people would want to read it. It is not enjoyable to read someone's rants even though rants are very commonplace on-line.

These are some ways I came up with that can help you turn a doldrum into a steady writing hum.

Brainstorming Process
For those of us who are in a sour mood and are sitting down to write an article, I have some tips to help you get in a better mood. (It is always easier to sit down and write an article when you are in a better mood.) The first tip is: write down the many different subjects you are passionate about. Like I said earlier, I had many tips written down before I was in a bad mood. After I became surly, I read all of them and none of the ideas appealed to me.

Just Start Writing!
This leads me to my next step. This step is exactly what I am doing right now, click the tab "Submit Content". Choose Your Options (Exclusive or Non-Exclusive, Pay or Not for Pay). Then start writing. Write anything that comes into your head. This is what I am doing right now. Chances are you will write a rant which leads me to my third step. As you are writing your nonsense or rant (whatever starts clicking from your fingertips), try to turn the article postive into something that can help people. Notice I have created an article to help you.

Complete the Article
The third and final step is complete the article. Once you have completed and typed what was on your mind you will feel a whole lot better. This will help clear your mind and heart. Now, the process has put you in a positive mood and you can begin writing your next article WITH PASSION!

Great article! Hope your daughter relocated the elusive binky! Those days are a bit behind us, as our son is now 16 1/2, but I remember them well. You're right, the big thing is to get started writing and do what you can even when it's difficult. Sometimes, while I'm randomly skimming articles here on AC, something gives me an inspiration. But the best articles are the ones I truly care about. Great reading! Kim

I like to play uplifting music or read a celebrity blog to get myself out of a bad mood so I can write. Good Article!
