How to Write List Articles Fast

Dee Jones
You want to write an article. But you aren't sure how to go about it. You've done all the research, and have all the information you need to make your article accurate and informative. Now, you just have to write it.

List articles are among the fastest and easiest types of articles to write. Writing an article as a list is the simplest and quickest way to share information with your reader.

And writing a list article is as simple as 1-2-3.

1. Write the introduction.

While an introduction will help give your reader an overview of what your article is about, it will also help you narrow down your topic.

When you first sit down to write an article about something you know a lot about, there's a temptation to try to squeeze everything you know into a single article.

But if you're writing a short article that's 500 words or less, you'd do better to focus on one aspect of your topic. There's little chance you'll be able to do justice to a large topic in so few. Besides, writing about one aspect of a topic is just easier.

So, instead of writing an article called, "How to Train Your Dog," write an article called, "How to Train Your Dog to Roll Over."

2. Make a list.

Make a list, writing one sentence for each item.

The items on your list could be the steps needed to perform a task, a number of suggestions on how to do something better, or a list of items you should have in your first aid kit. Any kind of list you can think of can be turned into a list article.

3. Organize the items on your list.

Put the items on your list in an order that makes sense.

If you were writing a list article about cooking perfect spaghetti, you wouldn't suggest adding pasta to the pot before adding the water.

If you're writing a list article about which items everyone should have in their first aid kit, you'd probably put the most important item first on the list.

On the other hand, if your writing a list article about the five best family restaurants in the city, you'd probably want to put the best restaurant last, the way it would be on a countdown list.

4. Explain or describe each item on your list.

Go back and write a paragraph or two explaining or describing each item on the list. In the list article about list article about the five best family restaurants in the city, give a mini review of each restaurant. In the list article about items everyone should have in their first aid kit, describe what each item is used for, where they can be bought, and how much they usually cost.

When writing articles, you don't have to get bogged down in making outlines. By writing a list article, you can have your article finished in no time.
