1). Carry a small notepad.
This will be the foundation of your newly produced content. Your notepad needs to be big enough that you will be able to write comfortably but small enough that you can take it with you wherever you go.
2). Learn to outline.
When writing in your notepad, do not attempt to write your content word for word. Your notepad is where you will create the skeleton of your articles. You will outline your topic, your purpose statement, and your main ideas or supporting facts.
3). Create the habit of writing whenever you have a few spare minutes.
Keep your notepad with you at all times. Write when you are waiting in line, while you are waiting at school to pick up your kids, during commercials, at stop lights (careful with this one), or any other time you are not doing something else. Remember, you are not writing your article, you are creating the skeleton of your article.
4). Keep a running list of article ideas.
When writing you can refer to your list or you can let your environment inspire you. For instance, you might write about how to control germs while cooking while sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's office or how to be a courteous driver while sitting in the traffic jam.
5). Schedule time to flesh out your articles every few days.
After you have several articles outlined, build time into your schedule to type them onto AC all at once. While typing you will be able to revise, complete, and support your ideas. Choose a time that will not interfere with family time such as early in the morning before everyone gets up or in the evening after the kids go to bed.
6). Consider a keyboard for your phone.
If you have a smart phone, you might consider a portable bluetooth keyboard you can use to type articles directly into your phone. These keyboards can be obtained cheaply at Amazon.com and will allow you to simply cut and paste into AC. (I am typing this on mine while sitting by the pool at my daughter's swimming lessons!)
