How to Write Poetry

SP
Poetry is merely words put together that rhyme expressing how you feel inside. Whether you're glad, mad, depressed, or feeling motivated you'll be able to write poetry. So with that said let's begin your process in writing poetry. So how are feeling right now emotionally? Your emotions will always determine what kind of poem you will end up writing. So if you're feeling good your poem won't sound depressing. If you're feeling depressed it's won't sound motivating. If you were writing a poetry book and you didn't want it to sound too depressing nor to motivational, you would have to write poems in-between moods. This pertains to any and all moods such as feeling serious and lonely. A great poem can come out of any emotionally state that you are in so never just write poems when you're in one certain mood.

Now that you know how your emotions will dictate what kind of poem you'll end up writing let's move to the actual writing process. You don't have to be really creative or make all your words rhyme to write poetry. You simply need thoughts. So let's say you're feeling good. What are you feeling good about? Maybe you just got paid. Maybe you just graduated from high school or got married. Whatever your emotional state is start off by writing what is making you feel this way. Let's say you just graduated from high as an example. Jot down why this is making you feel so good.

Example: Getting my high school diploma was tough but I'm glad I stuck with it and finally graduated. My family is proud of me. My friends are proud me. Now I can get me a job that pays a little better. Now I can move out of my mom's house and get my own place. Next I'm headed to college to search for a career. I'm going to have a lot fun this summer.

Ok you've written down the thoughts that have you in such a good mood now it's time to make it into a poem.

Example

A summer of fun is soon to come

Graduation has happened but my work is not done

The facial expressions of smiles from family and friend's

Lets me know how much their proud

I over came the tough challenge that accelerated my brain

I'm so eager to find out what the future will bring

Doesn't take much to become creative does it? This process can help you get started in writing poetry. Once you become good at it you won't need this because you'll do this process naturally in your mind expect for the writing down part. Good luck and I hope this article will help you become a great poet. If you're looking for a good poetry site to post poems and get comment feedback from others try unitedworldpoets.com.
