How to Write Web Content

Writing web content is as much an art as it is a science. Not only do you have to write in such a way that people enjoy reading your web content, you also have to write web content in such a way that search engines are able to correctly identify the topics or "keywords" that you're writing about in your web content.

To write web content, you have to start with an idea of what to write about. If you've been contracted to write web content for someone else's web site, this is usually pretty easy. If you're writing web content for your own web site or your own blog, it can be more difficult deciding what it is you are going to write about. Still, this is where you have to start.

Once you know what you're writing about, you need to identify the important keywords that go along with the web content you are writing. Again, if you have been hired to write web content, your client may have provided you with keywords. Otherwise, you will need to use a tool like overture or another keyword analyzer to find out which keywords related to your web content that people are searching for.

Next, it is time to actually write your web content. You should write your web content, on the first draft, as if you are just writing it for another person to read. Make sure that your ideas are clear, and that you're covering the topic in an accurate and attractive way. This is key to writing in such a way that people will want to come back and read more of your writing. In this way, you add value to your web content.

After you write the web content, then it is time to get it ready for search engines. Usually, you will want to have a keyword density of about 3%. This means that, for every hundred words, each keyword should appear once. This isn't a hard and fast number, but it will generally help when you are first starting out.

Next, you'll want to proofread. Proofreading is what separates good writers from great writers.

The final stage is, of course, to publish your web content. Again, that might take place on your own blog or website, or on another person's web site.
