Think outside of the box-When you are writing your resume always think outside of the box. It is not good enough to just put down what the your current and past jobs entail or the day to day details of your current job. The interviewer or the recruiter already knows what your job title entails, but your resume should also stand out by also including your accomplishments. Go beyond the original resume and showcase not only your accomplishments but also your contributions and results. Create a job description of each position you have held.
Be Precise-When you are listing your contributions you must be exact and right to the point. You must remember that the recruiter or interviewer is normally very busy and that your resume will probably be glanced over for six to eight seconds, so it is your job to grab their attention. Be sure to name the companies you have worked for and also all of the promotions you have received while working for this company. These are details that will make your resume stand out. Always put your best foot forward. There are thousands of resumes out there and yes you maybe more qualify, but many times the interviewer will see the resume before they see the person behind the resume. Make sure that your resume projects your skills. This will increase your chance of getting the job. When you are wording your resume you want to use creative and descriptive words. When writing your resume let the interviewer know how you can benefit the company. This is basically the bottom line, "What assets can you bring to the company?"
Be Honest-When your are writing your resume be honest. If you are not you can get into a lot of trouble. More than its worth. It is better to be honest and land the job than to be dishonest land the job and come to work on pins and needles not knowing if this is the day your lie will be uncovered. Bogus degrees, fake work experiences or anything that is listed and not true can be discovered. Many companies now and days conduct background checks. Normally if dishonesty is detected it can not only result in termination, but also legal actions if the company chooses to do so. Do not put your future at stake by lying about your past.
These are just a few steps on how to produce a winning resume.
