How New York City Residents Can Make a Donation for the Haiti Earthquake Victims

On January 12th 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake dealt a devastating blow to Haiti. It was the biggest earthquake in more then 200 years. It struck around 10 miles from Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince. Tens of thousands are feared dead.

The situation is bleak and aid is needed to help the Haiti earthquake victims. Here in New York City, the mayor and the local news stations have provided information on how to make donations.

The Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg has opened his Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, for the acceptance of donations for the Haiti Earthquake Relief effort. At this time monetary donations are the preferred method.

There are three methods available for making donations to the Mayor's Fund.

1. You can send donations for the Haiti earthquake victims online at:
www.nyc.gov/html/donate/donate.shtml

2. If you live outside New York City and want to send donations for the Haiti earthquake victims, you can call: 212-788-7794

3. If you prefer to mail your donations for the Haiti earthquake victims, you can send checks, with Haiti Earthquake Relief written in the memo, to:

Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City
One Centre Street, 23rd Floor
New York, NY 10007

Tens of Thousands of New York City residents can trace their roots back to Haiti. Fox NY has reported that churches in Brooklyn have set up vigils for those in mourning or looking for information about their loved ones.

For anyone searching for a way to reach their family members in Haiti, the State Department has set up a hotline to call. That number is 1-888-407-4747.

In a recent press release Mayor Bloomberg has reported that the 311 calls directed to Mayor's Fund raised over $325,000 for the Haiti Earthquake Victims.

My Fox NY on their website www.myfoxny.com has also made it easy to find information about making donations for the Haiti earthquake victims. On their site you can find a list of such websites as:

The U.S Fund for UNICEF

Catholic Charities

Doctors without Borders

Hope for a Healthier Humanity

To donate to The American Red Cross in Greater New York you can either call 1-800-733-2767 or text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10 for the Red Cross earthquake relief efforts.

These are wonderful sources in which to send donations. I am only working pt. time so alll that I am able to send are my prayers that God would intervene and use other nations to extend mercies and aid to them. I appreciate your kindness towards a misfortunate people that were innocent victims, regardless of what Pat Robertson said. Thanks. I'm glad your in this to help people. Nicely done. : - )
