This site also includes a variety of ways in which hotel search results can be arranged and filtered which is very helpful in finding exactly the right hotel as far as price, location, and hotel features are concerned.
Step by Step "How To" on Finding the New York City Hotel You're Looking For
1. Go to NewYorkHotelDeals.US and select your check-in and check-out dates along with how many rooms you want to reserve and how many guests are going to be staying in your room.
2. At this point you will be taken to the hotel search results page which is sorted by "popularity" by default. Most likely you will want to sort your results by "price" or "stars" instead. Sort by "price" if finding the best deal is your top priority and search by "stars" if you're only interested in staying in a luxury hotel.
When arranging by "price" you need to open up the "Property Type" tab on the lower left so that you can uncheck "hostels." You may also want to check some basic features in the "Hotel Features" tab which can filter out really low end hotels.
3. If there's a particular NYC landmark or neighborhood that you want your hotel to be near then you should use the "Location Distance" tab on the left of the hotel search results. When you scroll through the locations you will find a great number of landmarks and neighborhoods listed alphabetically, it's highly unlikely you will not find what you're looking for here.
If you want to search by "price" (or "stars") and location simultaneously then you will want to select just 1 mile in the "Location Distance" tab area while arranging your results by "price" or "stars." A mile is actually pretty far in NYC because you will likely want to be able to walk to your target location easily so I would look for hotels that are less than 0.5 miles away.
4. If you really want to narrow your hotel search results further then you can use the "Hotel Features" tab to check specific hotel features that you require for your stay in NYC. Some examples are "Pets Allowed" (obviously you'll want to check this box if you're taking your dog with you!) and "Parking" (if you're driving to the city then you'll want this box checked.)
