As a perpetual volunteer, I'm always interested in donating my time to a good cause. Through some college friends, I discovered the Howard Area Community Centers located in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. One such volunteer opportunity caught my attention, when I accompanied my old college classmate to a volunteer assignment. She had been a long-term volunteer at the Employment Resource Center, which assists people with resume writing, and gives them guidance on how to handle job interviews. The clients seemed so appreciative of this free services and I could just see their confidence building as my friend offered her tips and suggestions on how to make a good impression when on a job interview.

Since she is a human resource professional, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for her to give back to the community. Howard Area Community Centers offer one-time volunteer opportunities, or you might prefer a longer commitment. On certain days of the week, volunteers pick up leftover Panera Bread from the store in Winnetka and help bag it up for the clients and even deliver it to designated locations.

If you are interested in volunteering for the HACC, call 773-262-6622.
