Howard K. Stern and Anna Nicole Smith, and Why I Don't Care

It seemed everywhere I looked yesterday, I found photos of Howard K. Stern and old and new, thin and heavy, young and old pictures of Anna Nicole Smith.

Why?

Neither Howard K. Stern (and we are using this middle initial I'm assuming to avoid any confusion with radio shock jock, Howard Stern, whose middle initial I don't know.

For some reason, I kept flipping pages though, looking at all the pictures of Anna Nicole Smith, and thinking how, at one time, she was truly a gorgeous, vibrant, beautiful and voluptuous woman.

Quite frankly, Anna Nicole looks a bit like a Vegas showgirl, now. No, not the gorgeous beauties who do the feather and hairs, but more the transvestite shows where biological men have fake boobs, ugly wigs, and way too much makeup.

What happened to her?

Celebrity. I'm certain celebrity is what happened to Anna Nicole. Love of money, the 'good life', celebrity.

Not fame. Fame is something totally different than celebrity.

And how exactly IS Howard K. Stern? When I first saw the listing in the websites I was visiting, I truly thought the radio shock jock was in on some trouble again. After all, he's certainly had his fair share of trouble in the past too.

But the picture of Howard K. Stern I saw didn't look anything like the long-haired, curly mopped, elderly and growing older by the minute, shock jock. Can you tell I'm not a big Howard Stern fan?

Anyway, turns out, best I can tell, Howard K. Stern and Anna Nicole were 'married' in a commitment ceremony, but never officially married. The rumor or rather, since the police are involved, it's an allegation, is that a Dr. Sandeep Kapoor prescribed methadone to Howard K. Stern, or perhaps even other controlled substances (you know, drugs), that were truly for Anna Nicole Smith.

There were allegations that Anna Nicole Smith was taking methadone (illegally, as well as other narcotics, if I'm not mistaken, while she was 8 month pregnant.

Ouch.

I did learn something I didn't know though, and yet, I'm not sure it matters. Did you know Anna Nicole Smith's legal name is Vickie Marshall?

Anyway, all this took place back in 2006, but now it seems everything is coming back up again. Anna Nicole Smith died two years ago, and yet, she lives one.

I wonder at times the fascination surrounding celebrities. I also wonder if the memory of who was once a beautiful woman is ever going to rest in peace? I suppose, in the end, the one thing about celebrity is that you will essentially never die.

I know, you're probably disappointed in this 'article', but you'll note I did put it in opinion pieces. My goal wasn't to provide information about Howard K. Stern or Anna Nicole Smith, but more to ponder the failings of being a celebrity, and the lifestyle that can come from it.

Also, to wonder if anyone truly ever thinks about her child and what all this media circus hoopla is doing to a child who is the subject of so much speculation and controversy. Pray she is sheltered from the worst of it.
