How-To Make Christmas Playdough

What you will need:

2 cups of water
2 cups of flour
1 cup of iodine salt
4 teaspoons of cream of tartar
4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
4 tablespoons of peppermint extract
glitter-any color

Take a large, heavy saucepan and mix all the ingredients together. Cook the mixture over a low flame, all the while stirring to keep it from burning. A wooden spoon is best for stirring a dough mixture. The mixture will begin to thicken and pull away from the sides of the pan, when it does this, it's ready. Flour a large surface greatly, put dough down and form a ball. Sprinkle glitter throughout the flower and all over the dough, knead until consistency is right. Let cool, store in airtight container or large plastic Ziplock bags to keep soft.

Gingerbread Play dough

What you will need:
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 teaspoons of vegetable oil
1 cup of water
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
Spice of your choosing-ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon

Mix up the dry ingredients. you can use as little or as much of the spices until you get the scent that you want. Also, the spices will turn your dough different colors. Mix together the water and the oil, then mix them in with the dry ingredients and stir. Put the whole mix in a big pot, cook over low heat, and stir constantly. When the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, it is done. Take it out, and lay it on a heavily floured surface. Knead until dough is soft and pliable. Always store in an airtight container or large ziplock bag.

After you have made your holiday Christmas play dough, you can use it to make ornaments out of. Simply roll the dough out on a floured surface, and cut out with festive cookie cutters. You can make trees, wreaths, reindeer, Santa's, anything Christmas will be lots of fun to make! Punch a small hole in the top of the ornament to hang a string through, and let dry for at least 24 hours. You can then use paints to decorate them as you want. Let your kids imaginations and creative sides run wild as they create their own masterpieces! Let them dry, hang up, and Voila! Beautiful ornaments, homemade from the start!
