If ever a laptop computer could be considered a best friend, then my little Compaq Presario V1000 would definitely be one of my best.

Let me start off by saying that I have always been a big fan of HP products. They have always been reliable, reasonably priced and easy to use. When I went shopping for a new laptop almost six years ago, I had already made up my mind that if it was at all possible, I was going to purchase an HP laptop.

I had gone into several computer and electronics store, but I couldn't find one that I really liked. Or, if I liked it, it didn't feel right to my hands. I was about to give up when finally I saw it. It was a crisp, clean appearing laptop, at the end of a row of laptops.

I went to look at it closer, and sure enough it was an HP laptop. It was a Compaq Presario V1000, it fit my hands perfectly, and it seemed to like my typing touch. I fell in love with it, and purchased it without any questions asked.

I have to tell you, that I couldn't have been happier with another type and style of laptop. My husband was in the Army, and my HP Compaq Presario V1000 has traveled with me all over the world. It has traveled in the car many thousands of miles, plus traveled on many airlines and trains. Even through all the traveling, there was never so much as a hiccup in its performance.

My Compaq Presario has also been bathed in tears many times. As I said, my husband was in the Army and gone a lot, and we have two sons in the Army; both having served in the war twice each. About a year and a half ago, while doing work on my computer, one son called me from Iraq. All of a sudden I started hearing gunfire in the background, and we were cut off. Immediately I jumped up, and when I did I knocked my laptop off on the floor.

It shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I noticed then that the connector end of the power cord was broke. I took it in to have a technician check it over. Before he would even touch it, he told me to go to Radio Shack and get a universal power cord. If that didn't work, then he would take it apart to see what happened. He also warned me not to expect too much. He said that the hard drive is quite sensitive, and not meant to take a shock like falling to the floor.

Well, to make a long story short; I bought the universal, took it home, plugged it into my Compaq Presario, and it worked. There was not so much as a hiccup!

About two months ago, a not nice person sent me a Trojan and virus that totally destroyed my laptop. I couldn't justify spending more money to fix my laptop than I would to buy a new one; I had to say goodbye to my good friend of almost six years.

Though I now have a new laptop, and I like it, it is just not the same as my bosom buddy; Compaq.

My little Compaq Presario V1000 is still being put to good use though. Instead of having to pay the technician for all the work he did trying to save the Compaq; he took the laptop in trade. He likes Compaq Presario's as much as I do, and he was going to revive her by putting in new parts, and rebuilding. It is well on its way to making another person as happy as it did me.
