What's Inside?
This laptop has impressive stats in all of the common areas. A powerful Intel Core Duo processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 160 GB of memory minimum. It also has a Blue Ray player, strong graphics card, and an anti-glare 15.4 inch screen that makes for some good movie watching. These configurations give it plenty of power without going overboard for your wallet. This is quality hardware.
The Look
The EliteBook doesn't go for trendy looks--it goes for functional. The outer shell is an "HP Duracase" which is plastic reinforced with magnesium and aluminum to give it extra strength. The entire laptop is very rigid and strong. This is the kind of machine that you could drop and not damage at all. You could even sit on this machine and it would support you instead of crashing in on itself like other laptops.
Design
This machine is built to last. It can survive bumps, drops, slams, and knocks. But this comes at a certain price. This laptop is a full 6 pounds, making it an excellent replacement for a desktop, but a bit heavy for constant travel. The screen has excellent resolution and looks good from different angles for good movie watching with friends. One of the things that most laptops struggle with is speakers, but HP delivers for this laptop. The speakers sound good and have a good volume for a laptop. This is a good choice if you like to crank some tunes while you work.
Conclusion
The HP EliteBook is a great choice for a mid-range laptop with a lot of power and amazing durability. Unfortunately, this durability and power come at the price of a heavy load to carry around. If you are not planning on traveling with your laptop, then this may be the perfect choice for you. Otherwise, you may want to consider a lighter model.
