HP Unveils Stylish Products during New York Fashion Week

HP has unveiled several new products during a celebrity-studded gala in New York last Wednesday. According to HP's press release, the launch was held on the eve of New York's Fashion Week where the company played host to nearly 1,000 audience that were mostly celebrities and industry movers and shakers.

One of the celebrities in the event was tennis champion, Serena Williams who HP honored as the latest "achievers" in HP's "The Computer is Personal Again" Marketing Campaign. William's commercial had its television debut last August 27. In the event, HP also announced its support of the Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS organization. HP collaborated with several designers to create a limited-edition HP notebook skin; the proceeds from the sale of the skins will be donated by HP to nonprofit groups. The new skins were showcased by several celebrities including Williams, professional snowboarder and skateboarder Shaun White, supermodel Petra Nemcova, and custom motorcycle designers Orange County Choppers.

One of the highlights of the launch was HP's announcement of the HP Blackbird 002, a gaming PC that features optimized air-flow dynamics design and an aluminum chassis which can be customized by PC enthusiasts with industry-standard components. According to HP, a limited edition HP Blackbird 002 Dedication Edition will be available for purchase starting September 15. The HP Blackbird 002 Dedication Edition is a commemorative PC to recognize HP's first PC for the gaming market and will feature pre-set configurations, one-of-a-kind side panels, as well as free games.

Aside from the HP Blackbird 002, HP also introduced several HP laptop and desktop computers as well as 55 new products and services, two new phones, and new personal digital assistants. HP's two new phones include the HP IPAQ 900 Series Business Messenger which is a 3G phone with QWERTY keyboard and the HP iPAQ 600 Series Business Navigator, also a 3G phone with navigation functions. HP's handheld line up includes the HP iPAQ 200 Series Enterprise Handheld, a large screen PDA with Wi-Fi capabilities and the HP iPAQ 100 Series Classic Handheld, a slightly low-end version of the HP iPAQ 200 Series. HP also launched a handheld GPS device that features graphics acceleration and 3D maps.

Rob Enderle, a principal analyst a the Enderle Group commented, "HP has what we believe to be the most complete and compelling lines of PC products in the commercial, consumer and digital home segments. From the standpoints of user experience, industrial design and performance, they bracket these markets with attractive products that make it fun to shop for technology again."
