HTC EVO 4G Vs. Apple iPhone 4 - Let the Fight Begin

A Fair Fight and a Clear Winner

Dave Bryan
Comparing the EVO 4G versus the Apple iPhone 4 is like comparing Apples to...well you know. Many people have biased opinions and this is especially true with the Linux vs. Apple fanatics. Being a long time Linux user puts me in that category but I will try to be fair to the iPhone crowd.

Between several of my acquaintances I had the privilege of trying out both these contenders. This article will discuss the pros and cons of each by putting them against each other for a blow by blow comparison. Who will win, the HTC EVO 4G or the Apple iPhone 4?

Round 1 - EVO 4G vs. iPhone 4

In one corner we have the iPhone weighing in at 4.8 ounces. In the other corner we have the EVO 4G weighing a hefty 6 ounces. The HTC EVO 4G has the Android 2.1 OS backing it up while the Apple iPhone 4 has the iOS4 on its side. The EVO's 1GH Qualcomm Snapdragon processor is a match to iPhone's A4 but the iPhone wins the first round with it's internal RAM of 512 MB vs. EVO's 440 MB.

Round 2 - EVO 4G vs. iPhone 4

EVO 4G comes out swinging with a 8 MP camera verses iPhones 5 MP. We see that the iPhone doesn't have a radio unlike it's contender. EVO wins the second round with it's 4.3 inch display beating out iPhones 3.5 inch screen.

Round 3 - EVO 4G vs. iPhone 4

The match between EVO 4G and iPhone 4 continues. The iPhone throws a near KO with a price of $524 effective price compared to EVO 4G's price of $599. Looks like Apple's iPhone is ahead and winning. The iPhone's 250,000 apps delivers another major blow to the EVO 4G's 7,000 apps. I think the iPhone 4 has the EVO 4G beat.

Round 4 - EVO 4G vs. iPhone 4

Looks like the final round of HTC EVO 4G vs. Apple iPhone 4 as the EVO brings on it's HD video capture feature and throws a weak punch with GPS ability. The iPhone retaliates with its 3-axis gyro, accelerometer and proximity sensor. It is definitely over, the Apple iPhone 4 is the clear winner!

Apple does it again. I hate to love this company and would have never thought the iPhone 4 stood a chance against the HTC EVO 4G and its powerful operating system. The iPhone is fast on its feet and has been well developed. HTC's EVO 4G needs to do more to get its act together and it may get another chance in the future to compete again with the iPhone.
