Blogs have taken quite the ride over the last decade. The virtual pieces of real estate were once associated with major businesses who wanted to speak directly to their customers. Today, those business blogs have been replaced with blogs from stay-at-home moms, work-at-home moms, small businesses and even teens in elementary, middle and high school. With 10 minutes to spare, anyone can start a blog, but not everyone starts a successful blog. What is the secret to creating a blog that earns readership and starts making money for the blog owner? The answer is social popularity.
Three Myths About Blogging That Could be Holding You Back
Blogging changed at such a rapid rate that some people didn't complete the upgrade from basic blogger to business blogger. Basic bloggers share thoughts because they want to. Business bloggers share thoughts because they want to increase blog traffic and earn money from advertising, ads and other means. If you are stuck in the basic blogging stage, it could be because you're caught behind three blogging myths.
1 - It takes years to build a successful blog. Sure, if you are talking about the success of ProBlogger and other comparable blogging websites, it has taken years to achieve mega-popularity, but we're not trying to start a million dollar blog in two weeks. Take a look at The Wellness Chick. This blog was started very recently and has earned quite the readership in a short time.
2 - Successful blogs have tons of money to spend on marketing and content. This is just an excuse not to dedicate your time to a blog project. Let's take a look at another recently created blog that wasn't created with a ton of money and a room full of content writers - NoTimeToW8. This blog was created by a single man who wanted to chronicle his weight loss efforts, and since the day he started the blog, traffic has steadily increased.
3 - Successful bloggers are more popular than me. This is a myth and a truth all rolled into one. Everyone is popular to someone, but successful bloggers are popular to the masses. Why? They use social media to connect with potential readers and they do so in a way that promotes virtual relationships and traffic. Your blog must offer something to read, something to enjoy and something to share - otherwise, your readers will be limited to the small group of friends you promote to on social media networks.
Your blog isn't successfully making money because you are holding onto myths about how popular blogs are created. Anyone can create a successful blog with the right mindset and the right social popularity. Take the time to find a topic you love. Create a professional looking blog with a catchy theme. Share yourself on social media and be honest about who you are and watch your blog traffic and social popularity grow by leaps and bounds.

Post a CommentReally good points. I blog and I think it's easy to just blog for bloggings sake. A lot of people write but then don't think about how what they are doing will create any income. Seems like people that make it as bloggers do so because of the fan base and followers that they build. Then they monetize that list of contacts.
Interesting ideas, my blog sure hasn't seen significant readership gains recently.
Very inspiring and informative article. You've probably launched a few blogging careers with this.
I really need to start a blog. Thank you for this bit of coaxing.
Great article.
Very useful article. I have two blogs myself, and am having trouble increasing traffic. I think I may be caught up in basic blogging and not business blogging. Thanks for the tips.
