For one thing, they still hold their Annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest!
For my family, the Fog Fest is like a giant Pacifica-family reunion that we all look forward to all year long. We always make sure the keep that weekend clear and spend morning to evening both Saturday and Sunday catching up with old friends, hanging at one of the many block parties that are sure to spring up, perusing the various booths full of local art, crafts, and just plain cool stuff, and of course listening to the wonderful local bands and musicians. There are three stages with various music and shows to enjoy, so make sure to check them all out. The South Stage is on the corner of Montecito, the Center Stage is on the corner of Santa Maria, the North Stage is on the corner of Bella Vista where you can lay out on the grass to enjoy the music and entertainment.
For kids and families, there is always a Family Fun Fest on Sunday from 1 to 4 at the Ingrid B. Lacy School field (or what used to be the Sharp Park school field). This is always a blast for kids, with face painting, games, contests, and silly activities like painting an old beat up car or rolling on a giant Earth ball.
And just make sure you set aside plenty of time to make your visit an all day visit, as the festival is only blocks away from the beach and pier and surprisingly enough, Fog Fest weekend is often one of Pacifica's warmest weekends of the year!
If you have been before, you know what a great time it is; and if you never have before, make sure you leave that weekend open to drop in because it truly is the best time to both have a blast and also get a real sense of what Pacifica is all about - community, family and good times.
