Your own needs should also be taken into consideration...are you just getting started in a house or apartment together, have you each lived on your own for a while, or perhaps you're already living together...all of these things can affect your registry location. If you and your fiancée aren't living together yet and plan to build one household together, there are a lot of things you'll be needing. A good place for you to register is Bed Bath and Beyond as they have everything from kitchen appliances and gadgets to bath towels and bedroom sheets. Plan to spend a good deal of time wandering the store with a hand-held scanner and beeping in desired items. Start with larger ticket items that you'll absolutely need and hit the tedious items last. Try to have a good range of prices so that all your guests will feel comfortable making purchases for you. If you find yourself getting hungry, some Bed Bath and Beyond locations will actually pay for you to have dinner in the middle of your registration provided you come back to finish after your meal.
If you and your fiancée have been living on your own for a while and each have had an apartment then you'll find that you have two of most items and don't need as much to get started. Perhaps you'll be consolidating two apartments into one house now and could really use help instead with remodeling. Register for any new appliances or updated items you'd like at a kitchen store and then head over to Home Depot or Lowe's to register for tools, lawn-care items, or larger appliances. Your guests can pitch in towards a fridge, washer and dryer, or whatever else you find your new homestead is lacking.
If you're already living with your fiancée in your dream home, consider a honeymoon registry. Guests can contribute to different parts of your getaway by giving airfare, couples massages, private scuba lessons, or a romantic dinner. Memories that will last a lifetime are priceless. Just be sure to take photos and share them so your loved ones appreciate your enjoyment of their gifts.
Wherever you do chose to register, be sure to let your bridal party know so they can spread the word. Updating your wedding website (if you have one) will help inform guests as well.
