Vtech InnoTab Device Not Found Fix

Alicia White

The Vtech InnoTab was one of the hottest Christmas gifts for 2011. Imagine the disappointment when parents downloaded the Learning Lodge only to receive a device not found error after plugging the InnoTab into a computer. One quick search online, and you realize that thousands of parents are outraged and having the same problem. Fear not! There is a fix. It's simple, and it takes about five minutes.

The problem is with the latest installation of Flash. While this is a problem Vtech should have fixed prior to the Christmas rush, Flash comes to the rescue with their online archive of previous versions. First, uninstall any current versions of the Flash player currently installed on your computer. Once it's removed, you don't have to restart your computer for the rest of this to work.

Next, go to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and scroll down until you see "Flash Player 10.3.183.11." It's second from the top of available downloads. Download that zip file, and choose the installer for your computer. Windows users should install flashplayer10_3r183_11_win.exe, and Mac users should install flashplayer10_3r183_11_mac.dmg. There are also installers for Linux and Solaris operating systems.

Once the earlier version of Flash is installed, link up your child's InnoTab to your computer. The Learning Lodge will work perfectly and you will be able to register for an account to manage downloads. Once you're up and running with a new account, Vtech gives you three free credits to download three different e-books and/or games for the InnoTab, which is better than giving up on getting the Learning Lodge to work and buying a cartridge for $29.00!

This maybe good information for some people but... I installed that version after finding out it didn't support the flash 11, well for that I have some news, you can use flash 11 but u need to uninstall it then open the learning lodge. When it says if you want to downlad adobe hit yes then put in your operating system THEN this is the trick DO NOT say you are using internet explorer as your browser hit OTHER. It works and you don't have to downgrade,

    BUT
See this is my issue. After spending countless hours trying to figure out why it said I needed to update Adobe and I resolved that issue, that's when I recieved the Vtech device not found error. This was before and after I realized the Adobe 11 trick. I can connect the Innotab and it will open the Learning Lodge itself but it will say the device is not found. And this issue has caused me over 9 hours of messing around with it. Uninstalling, Reinstalling, 2 different memory cards EVERYTHING. This is the only device that has given me this much trouble. I dont know what else to do and honestly Vtech should give every customer something for this trouble. Its not just a couple people its THOUSANDS. I am so disappointed and especially with Vtech customer service that doesn't give you any of their time. I still haven't recieved and email back. But anyways, if anyone has any new ideas or a fix for this issue, PLEASE let me know.
