Whitney, Adele, and Bon Iver Shine at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, the 54th Annual Grammy Awards aired. The event went off without a hitch and did not spare any expense as the show celebrated the best of the music industry. Here is a look at some of the evening's highlights along with some Grammy moments that I will never forget.

In Memory of Whitney Houston

By far, one of the most touching parts of the night was the heartfelt tribute to recently departed singer Whitney Houston. LL Cool J kicked off the tribute with poignant words: "There has been a death in our family." Jennifer Hudson then sung a beautiful and respectful rendition of "I Will Always Love You," as Houston's performance played in the background on a screen. The performance was classy, and Whitney took center stage.

Adele Wowed

Adele never ceases to wow her audiences. Whether she is performing for her adoring fans or playing to an audience of her peers, Adele is nothing short of breath taking. She performed "Rolling in the Deep" and she sounded amazing doing so. The star, who is currently battling off ugly comments from Karl Lagerfeld regarding her weight, looked simply stunning with her blond hair and black dress. You definitely have to pity the poor soul that Adele is singing about in "Rolling in the Deep." The soulful singer walked away with six awards.

Bon Iver Wins Best New Artist

Now onto the "Most Deserving of a Grammy" category, at least in my own mind, that is. Folk act Bon Iver won a Grammy for Best New Artist, and it could not have given to a better recipient. Bon Iver is new to the contemporary music scene, but not new at all to indie fans such as me. His music is an inspiration, with a unique tone and vibe. Welcome to the big leagues, Bon Iver. You totally deserve this award!

The night was filled with many great moments, and the evening had a remarkable vibe. Whitney Houston took center stage one last time in a beautiful tribute, while Adele and Bon Iver showed the world why their fans adore them. All in all, it was an amazing night.
