Huffington Post Writer Puzzled at How Tea Party Movement Defeats Progressive Wishes

Snidely Whiplash
Huffington Post writer/blogger Richard "RJ" Eskow has a burr under his saddle. Poor RJ is totally confused as to how Congressional Democrats could give Republicans 20% more in spending cuts than the $32 Billion the Republican's originally sought. Eskow ponders how could the Tea Party "seem to be so much more effective than the left as a movement?" I'll answer RJ's query in a moment.

Good old RJ determines the Tea Party won a "major victory" because of money from evil types like those billionaires the Koch brothers. He also thinks Obama snookered progressives because Obama "misrepresented his positions on a number of issues or reversed himself once he was elected." But never fear dear progressive loyalist. Eskow assures them "it's not as if progressives don't have any cards to play. Their policies are very popular, while those of the Tea Party and the Republicans are equally unpopular."

Okay RJ, let's deconstruct those two premises....that the Tea Party has more money and that progressives ideological wishes are "very popular" while Republican and Tea Party wishes are "equally unpopular."

Based on continuous nationwide polling progressives are a minority of this nation...19% identify as "liberal" which is the same as progressive for the purpose of most citizens and the interchangeable ideology of both. The same poll showed 40% self-identify as conservative, so clearly the progressive ideology is less than HALF as popular as conservatism. Based entirely upon this constant nationwide polling we see Mr. Eskow is either severely misinformed or has an honesty problem.

Progressivism is a pipe dream and most people know that. Add in the arrogance of progressives as to their own superiority as Mr. Eskow, stuck on stupid as well as an obsession with "conservative money," shows progressive arrogance when he cleverly writes "decades' worth of funding for ad campaigns and "conservative think tanks" (an oxymoron, perhaps?) continue to lay the groundwork for destructive moves like the one we so last night." When it comes to political money, wasn't it progressives, unions, big corporate money, Wall Street, etc., that coughed up $600 million so the Usurper-in-Chief could win? The amount of progressive money devoted to the 2008 campaign dwarfed all other political campaign money before it, so drop the talking point there RJ. It's BS!

And the clever RJ is seemingly mad the Republicans and Democrats reached a budget compromise. But wait...I thought it was evil conservatives who wanted to shutter government? If that were true why is Eskow upset a compromise was reached? Based on Eskow's point it seems progressives are the ones who actually wanted a shutdown regardless of lofty and clearly misleading rhetoric?

What of the concept that progressives wishes are "very popular, while those of the Tea Party and the Republicans are equally unpopular?" Referring back to the polling, progressivism is a wish of a small minority whereas conservatism isn't merely an ideology but in fact how most people live their lives. For example, most parents encourage their kids to be conservative when it comes to their money, teenage sexual goings on and most other tenets of real life. Conservatism is a way of life...progressivism is a dream of how Unicorns and rainbows would be just so nice!

As for Mr. Eskow's claim that "the Tea Party seem to be so much more effective than the left as a movement," this isn't rocket science RJ. The Tea Party is indeed less well funded than is progressivism in general. Remember, many Republican's are not Tea Party folks. The Tea Party is a citizen response to irresponsible government spending and especially the clearly stated desires of progressives to INCREASE the insane levels of spending. As evidence of my claim, take the Blaze.com's headline today that George "Spooky Dude" Soros advocates "US can take on more debt and stop obsessing about budget cuts."

As I said, it's not rocket science as to how the Tea Party came to being or it's current supporting mechanisms. Most people are generically conservative in living our lives. To imagine that "revolutionary pipe dreaming" as a majority of real citizen's expectations is just another of the scenes in the progressive "pipe dream." The difference between most more rational folks and the pipe dreamers is us regular folks don't expect to find Unicorns riding rainbows. And we don't base any wish upon such foolishness either. Yet according to the progressives, as RJ wrote "conservative think tanks" are oxymorons, when the truth is most of the leftist wishes are truly where the oxymorons reside. Progressives like RJ here are arrogant and believe themselves superior.
