Vinfen, a non-profit human services organization that provides services to people with mental illness and other behavioral and developmental disabilities, presents its Annual Film Festival on April 16th. The festival is free and open to the public. It will feature three films which all explore different aspects of psychiatric related illnesses.

The festival will kick-off from 12pm-2:30pm with Temple Grandin, HBO award-winning film about Autism, starring Claire Danes. The feature film will be followed by When I'm Not Alone, a shorter movie, at 2:30pm and a documentary titled Unlisted: The Story of Schizophrenia starting at 3:45pm. Panel discussions will follow each screening.

Registration for the event will take place from 11:30am until noon. You can also register online with Vinfen.

The annual Lantern Ceremony at the Old North Church occurs on the eve of Patriot's Day to celebrate and honor Paul Revere's famous ride and the historical events that took place in Lexington and Concord; his journey began with the lighting of two lanterns on the night of April 18, 1775.

The Great Burlesque Expo and Festival is a weekend-long celebration of all things burlesque. There will be a wide variety of business related workshops for performers attending the conference; to participate in everything offered costs $135. For those who simply want to watch burlesque performances, though, or shop at the Vintage Fashion Fair and participate in other consumer oriented activities, you can purchase an Exhibits Pass, which is only $20, and good for various events on Saturday and Sunday. The Exhibits Pass will also allow you to take part in the free, drop-in Beginner Burlesque Class sponsored by the Boston Academy of Burlesque Education. More info and Tickets.
