Hugh Hefner's Engagement to Crystal Harris Leaves Holly Madison Angry and Blue? (Photo Links)

Hugh Hefner must believe the Greek proverb that a heart that loves is always young as he proposed to Crystal Harris, Playboy Playmate for December, 2009 on Christmas Day. Hefner, founder and CEO of Playboy Enterprises has only been married twice, but Harris, 24, has managed to convince the man 60 years her senior that three times is a charm.

Yet, what happened with Holly Madison whom many claim wanted to be in Crystal's shoes by marrying Hefner herself several years ago?

Madison was with (for lack of a better phrase) Hefner from 2001 - 2008 and gained notoriety for her role on The Girls Next Door. It was obvious that Madison was Hefner's main object of affection (although he had many objects) and it was also plain to see that Holly wanted to marry the publisher.

According to a report by Celebitchy (click here to read entire report), Holly was angered to hear that Hefner had proposed to Harris.

It's no secret that one of Holly's main goals was to marry and bear Hefner's children, and it would be a sure bet that his net worth of $40 million had something to do with her motivation. It's reported that Madison also paid for IVF treatments in order to become pregnant but obviously that didn't work.

So is it likely that Holly Madison is both angry and sad about Hefner's decision to propose to Harris?

Probably, but it should be said on Hefner's behalf that perhaps he really does love Harris. Maybe the Playboy magnate wants to get married because he's in love. Further, maybe Hefner loves Harris more than he loved Madison, enough that he wants to marry her.

One can argue that considering the amount of women Hefner's been around and with over the years might surely lend itself to more wives than just two.

In fact, Hefner spoke in 2008 at the Playmate of the Year Luncheon stating that while he loved Holly Madison and thought he'd be with her the rest of his life, that "marriage isn't part of my puzzle." Hefner noted that he hadn't had much luck in the marriage department as well.

Yet, while only Holly Madison knows exactly how she feels about Hefner's decision to marry Harris, one thing is very clear through Hugh's actions. Apparently, Hefner loves Harris enough to change his mind and give marriage one more try.
