Hugh Jackman: 2008's Sexiest Man Alive

Hugh Jackman has been named People's Sexiest Man for 2008! The magazine's online reading introduces Hugh as: "He's a triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon. At 6 ft. 2 in., all scruff and biceps, Jackman, 40, looms large in the epic Australia, and left people stammering, "Oh ... my ... God," according to costar Nicole Kidman. Jackman's wife of 12 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, calls his perfect form "the Body of Doom - but I like what's inside": a romantic who sings ballads at home and makes pancakes for kids Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3."

Hugh Michael Jackman was born October 12, 1968 in Sydney, Australia. He is the youngest of 5 children in his family. His mother Grace left and moved back to England when he was a young boy, so he was raised from there by his father Chris.

Hugh attended an all-boys school and you could say his acting career began there; he appeared in the musical, My Fair Lady. Hugh did not hit stardom right then though; throughout school years, he worked at a Shell station and as a party clown. He majored in journalism while attending the University of Technology in Sydney and graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications. Afterwards, he attended Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts to study drama.

Upon graduation, Hugh was offered a role on the Australian TV show Correlli. He starred beside his future wife Deborra. From here, Hugh Jackman was offered several other TV, movie, and theater roles, some of which he's won awards in. A few of the places we've seen him include: XMEN, Swordfish, x2, Happy Feet, Flushed Away, Van Helsing, Saturday Night Live, and The Fountain.

This is not the first time we've seen Hugh Jackman's name in People magazine. He was part of the magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" for five years in a row in 2000 through 2004!

Hugh Jackman has two adopted children with his wife Deborra. In his spare time, Hugh likes to golf, play the piano, and windsurf. His favorite food is sushi.
