Huguette Clark and Her Fortune

The Saga Continues

J.C. JORDAN

Huguette Clark, Heiress to the Copper King's Fortune, died this past May at the age of 104. Over the past twenty plus years Huguette lived in a hospital while her advisors handled her affairs; Ms. Clark was not ill. Court documents show that since 1996 expenditures from her personal account amounted to one million a month. A toy shop in Paris, specializing in dolls (Huguettes favorite companions), were paid approximatley 2.5 million over a ten year period. An auction house which dealt with dolls was paid an estimated $729,000 for the period between 1997 to 2009. Uncle Sam got in excess of 50 million in taxes per year and a settlement in Israel received a whopping $1.85 million dollar donation (it just happens that the daughter of her lawyer, William Boch just happens to live in this settlement). Bock held Huguette's (POA), Power of Attorney. His law firm was paid $250,000.00 per year while her accountant received 90,000 per year. And, of course, there were millions spent keeping up her many properities, including her lavish, 15,000 square foot Fifth Avenue apartment. Other expenses were the hospital that Boch claims Ms. Clark wanted to live in and the private nurse that was hired for her.

Boch and her accountant would now like the Court and the world to believe that Ms. Clark spent all this money without ever leaving her hospital room. Mr. Boch drew up Ms. Clark's Will which incidently leaves all of her extended family out and Boch, her nurse, and her accountant in.

Law inforcement is currently investigating both her lawyer and accountant to ascertain whether or not they were helping themselves. This saga will no doubt continue for some time.
