Hula Performance in Glendale by Hula Halau 'O Kamuela Elua

Experience an authentic ho'ike (pronounced hoh-ee-keh) at a local Southern California theater. The dancers of Hula Halau 'O Kamuela Elua have provided cultural entertainment with the revered hula dances and chants of Hawaii for over 20 years. This year marks their 21st Annual Ho'ike at the Glendale High School Auditorium in Glendale, CA.

Under the scrutiny and training of world-renown kumu hula (hula teacher), Kunewa Mook, the Burbank-based dance troupe holds over 75 active members, ranging from ages 5 to 75. The signature style of hula has won hula competitions in Southern and Northern California and been known to sweep divisional awards for both group and solo performances.

The group trains rigorously and the only time the local community can get a glimpse of an open performance is at the hula show in Glendale. Otherwise, the group is performing and frequently winning competitions, both in the States and Hawaii.

On Sunday, May 17, at 2:00PM, bring your family to see a spectacular and genuine hula performance. Doors open at 12:30PM for audiences to shop with local vendors. Because the show has an annual following, it's best to get there early to ensure parking and great seats.
