Human Trafficking-The Secret Crime

A million dollar industry right here in the United States and all you have to do is come to America with dreams of an education and a better life. You aren't going to get an education or have a better life, but you are going to make criminals very rich.

Human trafficking affects over 17,000 girls yearly. Whether you live in Chicago, St. Paul, Minnesota or Miami, there is human trafficking and sex slavery going on around you. Do you turn a blind eye and go about your business? Yes, because sex slavery and human trafficking for illegal activities is a secret crime.

No one wants to talk about the thousands of girls that are sold and traded into sex slavery or forced to work in strip clubs or houses of prostitution. Their lives ended when they arrived on U.S. soil. They came looking for freedom, an education and a good life. What they got is horrible conditions, worst than their home country. They undergo beatings, sexual abuse and for some, death.

Why is this so secret? Why don't people care? Why doesn't anyone do anything to stop this and protect these girls?

The answer is simple. These organized crimes are undetectable because everything is hush, hush. The girls will sometimes escape, but they don't report the crimes because they want to hide and not get caught by their captures that are looking for them.

Girls that live in the U.S. are targets of human trafficking as well. Runaways or girls that are easy to lure away from families are sold to the highest bidder right here in the U.S. and some are transported to other countries. These girls are tortured, sexually abused, traded for a new girl and some end up dead.

But wait, it's not just girls. Boy's are sold and traded as well. Boy's are sold to the highest bidder or forced into prostitution.

When kids are sold or used for prostitution, sexual predators jump at a chance to have a child of their own. Human trafficking and sex slavery isn't just about girls or boy's over 18 years old, it about kids also.

Since human trafficking includes kids under the age of 18 years old, why isn't this problem highlighted more? Why aren't there taskforces that deal with this type of problem?

There are government agencies that look at different aspects of human trafficking, but, as mentioned before, human trafficking and sex slavery is a secret crime. The abusers don't advertise it and criminals are guarded about who they deal with and don't.
