Bobby didn't come from the same litter as the other three kittens. He was twice their size and the funniest thing to watch. The poor thing didn't seem to be very bright and unlike most cats, he was terribly clumsy.
The other kittens would chase each other through the kitchen, around the corner, and down the hall. Bobby just couldn't make that turn in the hallway and would crash against the wall every time. But he'd pick himself up and keep going. Cats are generally smart, but as the kittens grew, Bobby stayed twice their size and dumb as a stump. He would step in his food, sneeze himself off the sofa and run into the furniture chasing the others.
One time he was running down the hall just as I stepped out of the bath and when I opened the door the crazy thing ran into the bathroom and jumped right into a full tub of water! And he fought like a lunatic to get out.
There was a hole in the screen in my bedroom window and I had a hand towel shoved into it to keep out insects until I could have it repaired. The cats discovered how to jump up to the window sill and push their way through.
I would be at my desk and could hear when they clamped their claws down on the window sill, climbing up, shoving their way through. I'd get up and push the towel back into the hole, letting them stay inside until I closed the window to go to bed.
But Bobby just couldn't do it. The other four would be relaxing on my bed and poor Bobby would be out there trying to get in. I'd hear him scratching wildly at the sill trying to grab hold then I'd hear him fall. Eventually I'd get up and go get him.
One day, after the other cats had made their way through the screen, I was getting ready to go get Bobby when I heard him jump up to the window and the towel disappeared! Just WHOOSH! and I heard him hit the ground.
I guess he thought if he couldn't grab onto the window sill, he'd just dive through the hole! He must've grabbed the towel with his claws and snatched it right out of the screen!
I had the screen repaired and after a few days the other cats realized they couldn't get in that way any more and stopped trying. But Bobby tried over and over every day.
One day he finally got up on the sill and the look in his eyes when he pushed his face against the screen was hilarious as if he was saying, "Okay I made it. Now where's the dang hole?"
I laughed till I cried.
Jesus Christ, creator of heaven and earth, must have a tender heart towards the animals. He feeds, clothes and shelters them just as us. He was born in a stable and known as the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God.
Bobby's unlike any other cat I have ever had. I'm sure the Lord made him the way he is for a reason.
