Humpty Dumpty Sees a Psychiatrist

Pull Yourself Together

Steven West
Humpty Dumpty entered the room of famed psychiatrist Dr. E.G.Head. "I need help," blurted Humpty. "Can I please see you now?"

"Of course you can," said Dr. Head. "Sit on my couch. What seems to be the problem?"

"I'm anxious and depressed. I can't seem to keep myself together. I think I'm cracking up. I keep having dreams of sitting on a wall and then accidentally falling down. I see millions of pieces of me scattered all over the ground. What does this all mean?"

"Hmm, most interesting. You definitely do have a problem. I would suggest that you stay off of all walls for the near future. By the way, how do you manage to keep your oval appearance? It really is quite fascinating."

"Look doc, I'm an egg. I'm a huge, white, edible egg. I'm very nutritious. I just want to stay alive. I'll stay off all walls. What else can I do?"

"I suggest you stay away from egg cartons too. I must say that you would make a fantastic omelet."

"Thanks doc, I appreciate the compliment. However, I don't plan to be your breakfast meal either. Anyway, I'll be seeing you. For now, I have a date to see the King. He's going to teach me how to climb a wall. Doesn't that sound delightful?"

"Indeed! Well good luck and be very careful. I wouldn't want you to break open before you pay my bill. Bye!"

"See ya doc and thanks for the advice. I'm a Scramblin' Man and I'm feeling fine..."

LOL Very clever, Steven. Sometimes I feel a little "cracked", too.

I saw him in my practice. Turns out to not have been a psychiatric disorder at all, but a purely physical one. Diagnosed by an MD colleagues (and treated as) FSS (Fragile Shell Syndrome.) He is doing much better and feeling FAR more secure about his fear of falling off things and breaking!
