So many worthy causes deserve our attention, but with paychecks stretched to their limit people have a hard time finding any money to give to charitable works. Fortunately, there are several ways to help combat the problem of hunger that only cost you a little time.

America's Second Harvest is a nationwide network of member food banks whose mission is to feed America's hungry and support the fight to end hunger. They have partnered with a number of companies such as Consumer Club, Organic Bouquet, VistaPrint, and others who give a portion of their proceeds every time you shop. Second Harvest also offers several ways to link to them on your website or blog with a variety of banners, a text link, and an interesting counter that shows the amount of food in pounds that have been wasted this year. Action Against Hunger is an international, non-governmental, non-religious, non-profit organization that was created almost 25 years ago. The Action Against Hunger website offers student projects such as Fast for Awareness, and Blogs from the Field featuring reports from volunteers. Oxfam America is an affiliate of Oxfam International, a non-profit organization that works to end global poverty. Their network is involved in several campaigns ranging from farming improvements to access to medicines and many more. You can join their community to receive e-newsletters and be able to email policymakers or corporations. They also have profiles on the social networking sites Myspace, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr. The Hunger Site was founded in 1999 to focus the power of the internet toward the goal of ending world hunger.
