When you relocate to a new city you are not familiar with, it can feel like a huge weight trying to decide where to live. You want to make sure you pick the right schools for children, a safe neighborhood, and one that is convenient for shopping and access to main highways without much traffic. Relying specifically on the recommendations of a real estate agent who really needs to sell another home, might not be the best for you and your family.

Being a resident of St. Charles and a parent of three children, ages 2 to 16, I can give you the inside scoop on the most desired, yet affordable, neighborhoods in the area with advice and warnings you might not get from your sales agent.

One neighborhood that has little turnover because it is a great place to live is Huntleigh Estates. Huntleigh Estates was built in 1992 and is a quaint little neighborhood, with less than 100 homes. The subdivision is nestled in the middle of several other subdivisions. If you didn't know it was there, you would never see it. The entrance to the subdivision is located within Timber Ridge, a larger Subdivision in front of Huntleigh Estates, instead of off a main road. The homes have a modern look from the inside and out.

The subdivision is very family friendly with sidewalks throughout that lead to a common walking trail behind the subdivision. The walking trail wraps around a small serene pond that is visually calming. This neighborhood of modern style homes is just around the corner from the High School, which is in the Francis Howell School District.

If you live in this community, you will have easy access to Highway 94, Interstate 70, and the new Page Extension (Highway 364). You will be close to shopping, fast food, and not far from the Mid Rivers Mall. From Hackman and Muegge, you can travel North to Cave Springs where there is an abundance of retailers, bowling, and other entertainment. You are also just around the corner from the Wapplehorst Park that features a childrens pool and water slide park as well as playgrounds, tennis courts and picnic areas. Because the neighborhood is somewhat hidden, it is very safe with little threat of burglary, vandalism, and currently has no registered sex offender predators. The only detractor from the subdivision is the large St. Peters Water Tower that can be seen from the west side of the subdivision. At the time of this article, there were only 2 homes available for purchase in the subdivision. One of them was a Preforeclosure, the other was listed by Coldwell Banker.

When you first move into your new home, you probably won't be able to get your internet service hooked up right away. Here is where you can go to get free Internet service until your home modem is hooked up: FREE INTERNET

If you decide to move into the Huntleigh Estates, the best fitness facility is just down the street on Zumbehl Road. The 24 Hour Fitness center has the most amenities at the lowest cost per month and incredible customer service. CLICK: 24 HOUR FITNESS.
