Hunt's Seasoned Tomato Sauce for Meatloaf Review

I love to cook and I love to find products that make that job easier. Like any Midwest mom, I make meatloaf. Knowing that meatloaf can be dry and boring, I try to find ways to keep it moist and flavorful. I was happy to discover that Hunt's had a new product called "Hunt's Seasoned Tomato Sauce For Meatloaf"

I made my meatloaf in the usual way but instead of using a regular tomato sauce or juice, I used Hunt's Seasoned Tomato Sauce For Meatloaf". To say the least this product was a disappointment. It was pretty much expensive ketchup with a few and I do mean a very few spices added to it.

"Hunt's Seasoned Tomato Sauce for Meatloaf" was thick and had that sweetness that comes from ketchup. The flavor was not that great and honestly I could have done a better job with a bottle of no brand ketchup and the spices in my cupboard.

Was this product terrible? No, but it was bland and a not very satisfying for me and my family. We like flavor, we like spice and ketchup belongs on a French fry not on a meatloaf.

While meatloaf may be a quick and inexpensive meal to make, it does not have to be cheap or taste like mom couldn't think of anything better to make.

If you like ketchup on your meatloaf then "Hunt's Seasoned Tomato Sauce For Meatloaf" is a product you will enjoy. If you prefer something a little less sweet or if you are looking for some real spice, this is not the product for you.

In all fairness, I will acknowledge that this could simply be a matter of taste for me but if I am going to put ketchup on something, I won't pay extra just to get a pretty can. I'll go buy a bit bottle of ketchup and then season it for the dish I am making.

If you like ketchup this is probably a product worth a try but for those like me who prefer something a little less sweet, I suggest tomato juice instead and just season it as you like.
