Consumer Product Review

Pasta sauces, particularly traditional - style red marinara and meat sauces are among my favorite foods. On a regular basis, I purchase and eat a wide variety of jarred sauces, but recently I've been purchasing and eating canned pasta sauces. One of the sauces that I have tried is Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce and I have discovered that it works well as both a pasta sauce and as a pizza sauce.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce.

Size
The net weight of the standard - sized container of Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce is 26.5 ounces. According to the product's nutrition facts label, the container holds about six 1/2 cup servings of sauce.

So far, I have purchased and utilized two cans of this sauce and each time I received roughly two servings from each can. That's because I like lots of sauce on my pasta and pizza. In physical size, the container measures in at roughly 5.75" x 3.25".

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 26.5 ounce container of Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets ranges between approximately $1.19 to $1.49. These prices are considerably lower than the prices of many other brands of traditional - style pasta sauce.

Consistency / Texture
This variety of pasta sauce features a smooth consistency. When I first saw this sauce, I was surprised at how smooth it was and I wondered if it would cling effectively to pasta.

Well, Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce does cling well to pasta and it also works very well as a pizza sauce. If you like to accentuate prepared pasta sauces with other ingredients, this is a wonderful base sauce to start with.

Taste / Flavor
While it may not be the very best tasting pasta sauce I've ever eaten, Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce does offer a pleasing and basic spaghetti sauce flavor. It is very lightly sweetened and is minimally spiced. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this sauce a rating of eight.

Having been a pizza cook at several restaurants through the years, I have a lot of experience at making pizza sauce. As soon as I saw and tasted this sauce, I realized that it would make a great base for pizza sauce.

One day last week, I decided to make homemade pizza, so I went to the supermarket and purchased some store bakery - made fresh pizza dough, a package of mozzarella cheese, a green pepper, some Italian sausage and a can of Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce to make the pizza sauce with.

Using half of the can of sauce, I added a packet of Sweet 'n Low sweetener, some black pepper, a touch of dried oregano and a good amount of dried basil. When the ingredients I added to the sauce melded together, after a couple of hours in the refrigerator, the resulting flavor was that of a very good pizza sauce.

Packaging
Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce is packaged in a fairly tall and wide metal can. The red, green and white front label features an illustration of a bowl of sauce covered spaghetti and the rear label lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information, as well as a recipe. The can requires the use of a can opener to open.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Hunt's Traditional Pasta Sauce is a very reasonably priced, basic pasta sauce. It is a good sauce to accentuate with ingredients of your choice. Available at food retailers across America, this sauce is a recommended item.
