Hurricane Bar and Grill in Jensen Beach, Florida

Seamus McDermott
At least once a week I go out to dinner with my best friend. He usually gives several selections for restaurants to go to and I usually pick one. It is only on a rare occasion that I allow him to decide the restaurant. On this particular outing, he decided on the Hurricane Bar and Grill in Jensen Beach, Florida. There are actually several other locations, but he insisted this was the best one.

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in the Hurricane Bar and Grill in Jensen Beach, Florida is definitely casual. They've gone with a tropical motif in this restaurant and the tables have a bamboo look to them. The restaurant is very clean and it offers inside or outside dining. While outside dining in Florida in the summertime is usually a no-go, Hurricane Bar and Grill have attempted to make their outside patio somewhat comfortable. There are several fans running overhead with a light mist being sprayed. There are also several tiki torches burning outside so as to keep away the mosquitos. We opted to eat inside because it seemed that the light mist blowing and the tiki torches burning would get annoying after a while.

Service:
The servers at Hurricane Bar and Grill are all women, most likely a decision to entice the male crowd, which makes up a good portion of Hurricane's custom. It is a seat yourself restaurant, so there aren't any hostesses to speak of, but most every waitress will greet you as you walk into the place. The service is very friendly and the waitresses always wear a smile. They must make a commission on desserts sold, because they do become a bit pushy at the end of the meal when asking if you want dessert.

Food:
The food at Hurricane Bar and Grill is outstanding to say the least. The restaurant is relatively small and there are never more than twenty to thirty people eating in the restaurant at a time, from what I've been told. This allows the cooks working in the back to pay attention to the quality put-out of their food instead of the quantity. My friend loves their Chicken Wings and says they're the best outside of Buffalo, New York (where he is from). I opted to try the Chicken Philly, which is basically the same thing as a philly cheesesteak, but made with chicken instead of beef. The sandwich is not too large and not too small either. The chicken philly is light on the stomach because of its being made with chicken, but very filling and satisfying. The sandwich comes with a side of fries that are also just the right portion and friend in sunflower oil (from what I've heard).

Prices:
The prices are very reasonable at Hurricane Bar and Grill considering the quality of the food that they put out. Two people could eat at Hurricane Bar and Grill and not spend more than twenty-five dollars, and that's including tip. Be advised though to bring small bills or a credit/debit card when paying the bill, because for them to break a larger bill (say a fifty) requires manager approval.

Overall:
To state it simply, I will be returning to the Hurricane Bar and Grill in Jensen Beach. I urge others to look into it as well. If you're wondering the location, turn left off of U.S.1 at Jensen Beach Blvd. and stay in the left hand lane. You cannot miss the large Hurricane Bar and Grill sign on the lefthand side of the road. Parking is limited because it shares its space with several businesses, but if you arrive after 5pm, most of the other businesses have closed for the evening and they open up their parking spaces for Hurricane Bar and Grill.

  • The inside of Hurricane Bar and Grill is clean and casual.
  • The food is outstanding and priced well.
  • Everyone should try out this restaurant.

Great review! I do hate it, when they push dessert on you. A simple no should be enough. I enjoyed your article and this sounds like a great place to eat.
