Hurricane Earl Strengthens to Category 4 and Threatens Major Cities Along the East Coast

Hurricane Earl has strengthened to a Category 4 and is still heading up the East Coast and threatening the most populated areas of the country. Residents from North Carolina to New York are preparing for Hurricane Earl. Hurricane Earl is the largest storm to form in the Atlantic since 1991 and its category 4 level could still strengthen. As Hurricane Earl strengthens to category 4 and threatens major cities along the East Coast, three states are under a state of emergency: North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland.


Hurricane Earl
is currently off the coast of Florida and Georgia. As Hurricane Earl strengthens to category 4, it is expected to brush by the Outer Banks of North Carolina by Thursday evening. At that point the hurricane is predicted to head north toward the Boston and New York area.

Labor Day plans are on hold for many as they watch and wait for this hurricane. Beach goers are hoping for the best and hoping the storm turns east. However, as Hurricane Earl strengthens to category 4, many states will be forced to alter holiday plans.

The states on the East Coast of the U.S. are the most densely populated areas. The National Guard is on standby as states from North Carolina to New York watch as Hurricane Earl strengthens to category 4 and threatens major cities along the East Coast.
