Hurricane Earl Tracks North

Teresa Erwin
Hurricane Earl has been downgraded to a category three storm and is headed northwest. Hurricane Earl is still a powerful storm and experts are stating that it is normal for a storm like Earl to fluctuate in strength in the open sea. Residents from Florida to Virginia are under hurricane warnings or watches. All coastal residents should be preparing for this storm. Make your preparations early by gathering all essential items now for this storm. Hurricane Earl is currently located east of the Bahamas and is still tracking north northwest.

Hurricane Earl has already caused flooding, power outages and damages to homes in the Caribbean and is the strongest storm this season. Many areas suffered power outages from Hurricane Earl. All air traffic and traveling in these areas was affected by Hurricane Earl.

Now that Hurricane Earl has entered open waters, predictions may become more variable for this storm. Although Hurricane Earl is currently tracking north northwest it could make a turn at any time in any direction. As hurricane season 2004/2005 showed, predictions for a storm only can go so far.

A storm like Hurricane Earl comes at a bad time for traveling. According to AAA in an ABC news report in Virginia, it has been estimated that ten percent more people will be traveling this Labor Day holiday than last year. Many people spend Labor Day at the beach and if Hurricane Earl keeps its current path and tracks north, some northern states may have very interrupted holiday plans from this storm.

Storm
surge, high waves and rip currents are common during these types of dangerous storms like Hurricane Earl. Labor Day beach goers are being warned of the dangers from Hurricane Earl. Although many residents are preparing, they are also hoping Hurricane Earl will take a turn east and leave Labor Day for rest and fun.

Enjoying your Labor Day holiday is important but also remember to prepare your emergency kit for this storm and plan your evacuation. Helpful information on storms and Hurricane Earl can be found at FEMA. Hurricane Earl can be tracked at the National Hurricane Center or at visual tracking maps such as Storm Pulse.

Hurricane Earl is the most powerful and largest storm this season. Every precaution needs to be taken to protect you and your loved ones and any neighbors who might need your help from a storm like this. Stay informed while planning your Labor Day weekend and stay safe.
