Hurricane Gustav to Hit Gulf Coast as Kids Head Back to School
Kids want to know how hurricanes form, how they are named, what damage do hurricanes cause, what is the "eye" of the hurricane, what is "the calm before the storm", how fast are the winds, what are hurricane planes, what do hurricanes look like from space, when are warnings given, where do evacuees go, what happens to the people after they evacuate, what stories do people have if they decided to stay and ride out the storm, how does the hurricane impact weather in different areas, how they can help, and many more. Extreme weather is a fascinating subject for many students.

Tracy,
What a great twist on the hurricane story! We are currently directly in the path of Hanna and I'm going to pull up some of these resources to teach my kids all about hurricanes. We just moved here last year so this will be our first.
