Hybrids, Frybrids, and Rising Gas Prices

How Hybrids Will Help when Oil Prices Break Through the Roof

The American Dreamer
With today's economy, Hybrid vehicles are gaining their niche in the automotive market. Some people buy them because they are better for the environment, and some people buy them for their fuel efficiency. With gas prices going up the way they are I can't blame either party for choosing a hybrid vehicle. In most peoples cases, hybrid cars are great, they use regular gas so they are convenient for the user but they get significantly better gas mileage than their non-hybrid counterparts. This advantage may take a while to pay itself off with the increased prices of these vehicles. Some people say they aren't justified because they could use the cash they saved buying a conventional car on gas, making the total investment on their vehicle less than on a hybrid one. Some people chose to go buy a diesel powered vehicle because they get significantly higher mileage than a gasoline powered vehicle while also being better on the environment. There are die hard people that will buy a diesel vehicle and run it on biodiesel or Straight Vegetable Oil [SVO] these are called "frybrids" and use waste vegetable oil from restaurants to fuel their vehicles. These are the ultimate hybrids as they create fuel from other peoples waste. You can also modify your diesel engine to run on used motor oil. No matter what you choose, a hybrid is a great choice for both fuel efficiency and being environmentally clean. The more extreme you get, the better your benefits are. It all depends on how far you are willing to go.

Don't want to disrupt your everyday life? Go pick up an electric gas hybrid and reap the fuel savings. Don't mind moving over to diesel? Go pick up a VW or Mercedes and have peace of mind knowing that you are helping the environment while getting great gas mileage. Want to make your own fuel? Go look up how to make bio-diesel using waste vegetable oil. You can drive around for $0.90 per gallon while keeping the waste oil out of our landfills. When was the last time you remember gas being $0.90 per gallon? What about those of you that are truly extremists? Go look up how to convert your diesel vehicle to run on motor oil or waste vegetable oil, network with your local businesses and set up a schedule, pick up their oil and drive on! Nothing is better than free gas right?

What about when gas spikes to $5 a gallon? If you learn how to do it now and are an expert by the time gas gets that high, imagine the business that you could start! You already dominate the oil collection in your town, and you already know more about converting an oil engine than anyone can learn overnight. You have set yourself up on top!

diesel engines can be run on any carbon based oil. Vegetable oil, used motor oil, heck even olive oil if you can afford it [and when gas prices are $15 a gallon, olive oil seems like a good alternative!]
