Hydrogen Fueling Stations in the New York Tri-State Area

According to the National Hydrogen Association, there are 70 hydrogen fuel stations in the United States and Canada and another 41 are currently in the planing stages. Hydrogen fueled cars are becoming more and more popular as alternatives to gas powered cars and as the price of gas continues to increase, so will their popularity. Hydrogen fuel stations are designed to motor vehicles that run on hydrogen fuel, which is not only cleaner - the only byproduct is water, not gas fumes - but more efficient and is a constant replenish able source of energy. Some stations also sell regular fuel also.

Hydrogen fuel stations are not that abundant yet, but they are on their way.

Here in the New York Tri State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, there is a Shell Hydrogen Station located on Kensico Avenue in White Plains. There are two types of stations, stationary and mobile and this one is stationary and is owned by Shell Hydrogen.

The Prototype "Home Energy Station" located at 968 Albany-Shaker Road Latham, New York, 12110, is another stationary Hydrogen Station that produces its own hydrogen fuel on site and is owned by Plug Power, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.. Their phone number is (518) 782-7700.

Another hydrogen fueling station in New York State is the NY State OGS located in the state capital of Albany. This is a mobile station and is operated by Honda. Currently there are seven more hydrogen fueling stations planed for New York State.

There are none in New Jersey, but Connecticut has the Proton Energy Systems Hydrogen Fueling Station in Wallingford and the UTC Power's South Windsor Campus Hydrogen Fueling Station in South Windsor.

Hydrogen fuel has a great potential. The rest of the world is ahead of us in this one and we have some catching up to do, so be on the look out for more and more hydrogen fueling stations to open up not only in the New York area, but across the country.
