Hydroxycut: A Fatal Weight Loss Supplement

Meg G.
If you're like me, chances are you have tried to lose some weight at some point in your life. Chances are you don't always take the "sensible" route of watching your diet and exercise. Chances are you have at some point taken a weight loss supplement.

Most weight loss supplements are herbal-based bills that are not FDA approved. The only non-prescription weight loss pill that is currently FDA approved is Alli. One popular weight loss supplement is Hydroxycut.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the FDA has received 23 serious reports of health problems with Hydroxycut products and one death in a 19-year-old male who had used the weight-loss product. Anyone who has Hydroxycut in their medicine cabinet needs to throw it away!

Serious side effects of Hydroxycut have included jaundice (yellowing of the skin) and liver failure. One person has already had a liver transplant and someone else is on a list.

According to the FDA Hydroxycut Cleanse and Hoodia are still safe to use. They have a different formula than the 14 recalled Hydroxycut products.

If you have a few extra pounds you are trying to get rid of, you are better off spending your money on programs such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, or their equivalents. If you have several pounds to lose and need the help of medication, please seek assistance from your health care provider. They can provide you with appropriate drugs and monitor you should side-effects arise.
