Its key ingredient, senna extract, reportedly decreases the transit time of waste, naturally aiding the body's "elimination" process. This supplement is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This supplement has not been studied in any clinical trials.

Today we're going to look at Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse's possible side effects and complications. There are some dangers associated with this supplement, but none considered to be life-threatening.

Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse: Side Effects

Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse contains a potentially harmful ingredient called senna extract leaf. According to WebMD.com the leaves contain chemicals called sennosides, which contain purgative (laxative) effects. Because of the nature of these chemicals, doctors do not recommend taking senna or products containing senna for more than two weeks.

Common side effects of Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse may include:

- Stomach discomfort, cramping

- Diarrhea, loose stools

- Dehydration

- Electrolyte imbalance

- Loss of bodily fluids

- Temporary weight loss

- Swelling of the extremities

- Discolored urine

- Dark pigmentation of the colon (long-term)

People who continue to experience these symptoms should consult their local healthcare provider immediately. Senna has been linked to liver toxicity, which can damage the liver.

Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse: Complications

Many of these complications are caused by long term use, NOT short term use. This does not mean you will experience these complications if you take this supplement, although it is possible. Possible complications caused by Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse include:

- Liver damage

- Muscle weakness

- Laxative dependence

- Constipation

- Potassium deficiency

Reports of death are extremely rare, and have only been reported in people who seriously abuse senna, Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse's key ingredient. A potassium deficiency can become serious because it can change how the heart beats, leading to abnormal heart arrhythmias. People who have heart disease are more likely to develop these arrhythmias. It may also cause the breakdown of muscle fibers, called rhabdomyolysis.

Regardless of your medical situation, you should talk with your local healthcare provider before you take any drug, herb or supplement. The ingredients in Hydroxycut Premium Cleanse may not be safe for people with the following conditions:

- Heart disease

- Crohn's disease

- Ulcerative colitis

- Appendicitis

- Hemorrhoids

- Any liver condition

- A heart arrhythmia

- Incontinence

- People who abused laxatives in the past

Additionally, this supplement may not be safe for people with any gastrointestinal issues because it contains a stimulant laxative (senna).
